Redfish (Sebastes Mentella and Sebastes Marinus)

We offer two types of redfish, the Sebastes Mentella and the Sebastes Marinus. Redfish is a common name for several species of fish, most commonly applied to certain deep-sea rockfish in the genus Sebastes.

The redfish are frozen at sea on our vessel M/V RAN. It is block frozen and packed in 3 x 6 kg cartons.

Sebastes Mentella

Sebastes Mentella is a deep-sea rockfish found at depths between 300 and 1000 m. It may reach a size of 70 cm, but is usually less than 45 cm. It lives in comparatively high concentrations in the North Atlantic.

Sebastes Marinus

Sebastes Marinus is a deep-sea rockfish found at depths between 100 and 1000 m. It may reach a size of 95-100 cm, though most reach about half that size. It lives in comparatively high concentrations in the North Atlantic.
