ORANGE ROUGHY (HOPLOSTETHUS ATLANTICUS)

Our Orange Roughy (Hoplostethus atlanticus) are frozen at sea on our vessel M/V RAN. They are block frozen and packed in 15 kg block cartons.

Hoplostethus atlanticus is a relatively large deep-sea fish belonging to the slimehead family (Trachichthyidae). It is commonly named “Orange Roughy”, but they are also called “Red Roughy”, “Slimehead” or “Deep Sea Perch”.

It lives at depths between 180 to 1,800 m, in waters with a temperature of 3° to 9°C.  It is found in Western Pacific Ocean, Eastern Atlantic Ocean, Indo-Pacific and in the Eastern Pacific.
